July/August Haul #2 ★ Korean Skincare & Cosmetics, and Sephora!

Hello lovelies!
I didn't do the cosmetics/skincare part of my July haul because my Beautynetkorea stuff took longer than usual (well, I've never ordered from the website, but I ordered from their ebay [f2plus1] a lot). So I decided to wait it out a bit and just do a haul for the past 2 months~ I've started drafting some reviews for some of the products. But let me know if you'd like me to review something in particular!

Please note that all items were purchased by me, so I'm not sponsored by any of the ebay stores or online retailers aha. Some Sephora items were purchased with gift cards I received for my birthday in June. The boxes make it look like there's a lot more than there actually is, but I included it for those who are curious about the exterior packaging. Some items don't come with a box, or I tossed it.

Review ★ Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution

Hello everyone!

I'm still trying to be more active ;_;~ I recently got my package from Jolse, so I'll do a haul post along with some reviews once I get my Beautynetkorea stuff. That also gives me time to test some of the skin care products I purchased before reviewing them!

Anyways! In March, I bought a bunch of products from Sasa, including this Bioderma cleanser. I was looking for something effective and light on the face, because my skin broke out badly and I didn't want to use a cleansing oil in case that made things worse. I still have some scars on my cheek from that time u_u.

There are numerous reviews raving about this product, so I decided to try it out. It is pretty much an award-winning HG product, as well as a cult favourite to many. The vast majority of reviews speak of this product very highly. It is supposed to be great for those with sensitive skin because of its gentle formula! Also, many people say it tones down redness, since it doesn't irritate their skin when they remove their makeup or use it to cleanse. Whereas some cleansers may be too mild, or the person is just rubbing their face too much.

Review ★ Holika Holika Soda Pore Cleansing Oil *LIGHT*

Hello friends!

I finally got around to buying more cosmetics and skincare products online, instead of solely the ones from Sephora. Hopefully everything will arrive before the end of July for a July haul post ^^~ I'm going to try making a post every 1-2 weeks to keep my blog active!

Today I will be reviewing this cleansing oil from Holika Holika! Cleansing oils have become a huge trend, but I think a lot of people are reluctant to try them out because of the word 'oil'. Most people try to remove traces of oil from their skin to avoid looking greasy or breaking out, but some oil is necessary to keep your skin healthy. Anyways! It's works in a similar fashion to waterproof makeup removers, but with skin care benefits. Most cleansing oils do a really great job at removing all traces of makeup, without clogging pores.

This one is the light cleansing oil, so it is supposed to be suitable for oily skin too. It also comes as the Soda Pore BB Deep Cleansing Oil, which is supposed to remove even the toughest of waterproof makeup and impurities. It does not contain mineral oil, so you don't have to worry about it irritating your skin or causing breakouts.

I'm going to start using the read more cut, so that it saves on space. The comment link is also relatively small and kind of blends in with everything else, so I think it would just be easier to use a cut.

Review ★ The Face Shop Chia Seed Sebum Control Moisture Cream

Hello everyone!

I finally have a break since classes are over, and exams are starting soon! I will hopefully have more reviews during the holiday, along with some food posts :D.

Today I will be reviewing the Face Shop's chia seed sebum control moisture cream (also a cream advertised by Suzy from Miss A) from their chia seed line. I haven't bought anything else from the line, so I can't speak for the other products~ The Face Shop also has another moisturizer, but I picked up this one since I have combination skin ^^

As you may or may not know, chia seeds are great for consumption, and have a lot of health benefits (rich in omega-3 fatty acids, manganese, phosphorus, fibre, protein, etc.)! So I assume that they're also beneficial in skincare products since they help retain moisture too!

Description
(taken from the description on the box)

• A moisture cream that replenishes skin with moisture, while preventing excess sebum. Chia seeds that hold moisture 10 times their own weight fill the skin with moisture, while native cotton seeds control unnecessary sebum to moisturize the skin without any sheen all day long. 
• Mild oil-free translucent cream made with environmentally-friendly technique. This 100% pure, mild and translucent moisturizing cream protects the environment as well through the oil-free formula that uses low-carbon, environmentally-friendly techniques.
• 100% organic chia seed extracts' sap are used in lieu of water (73.64% extract). This moisturizing cream delivers freshness and efficacy by using 100% organic chia seed extracts' sap instead of water. 
• 7-free (free of parabens, benzophenone, artificial colouring, sulfate, mineral oil, animal sourced ingredients, and thiethanolamine)
• It is dermatologist tested

The cream comes in a nice box that has all the information you need (in Korean, English, and French since y'know, we require it in Canada). It's very simple, but the overall design is nice ^^ It has a little die-cut circle that says it's GMO-free (genetically modified ingredients), so you know it's safe to use if you have sensitive skin since the ingredients are natural! It's $33 in the Face Shops in Ontario, but I got it during a promotion~

It comes with the container of cream and a spatula (which I lost, but I have the Laneige ones LOL). The container is kind of bulky, and the walls of the container are really thick. The hard plastic enhances the quality of the packaging or feel of the product, since we often associate good packaging with a good product as well. The walls of the container are really thick, so it seems like you're getting more product when you look at it from the outside. 

I will give kudos for the spatula though, because it prevents us from contaminating the product with our fingers. If only more companies included spatulas with their creams D:...

When you remove the lid, there is a cover with a little heart shaped tab to prevent the cream from getting on the lid. 

The cream is supposed to be applied after essence, or as the final step of your skin care routine so you seal everything in. The cream itself is translucent and lightweight, with a gel-like consistency. It has a light fragrance, but I don't know how to describe it OTL. It doesn't have a specific scent, but it has a 'clean' and 'fresh' scent @__@. It feels thick upon contact, but it thins out after as you spread it out. My skin drinks up the cream really quickly, and there isn't any greasy/sticky residue or sheen left behind after the cream is absorbed since there isn't any oil in it (well there's like 0.001% mineral oil). It leaves my face looking shine-free for awhile, so I think it also works well before applying a make-up base on top~

It's colder in Toronto now, so my skin is drier >__<, I don't think this is enough on its own, so it probably would not suffice as a standalone moisturizer for those with dry skin. The cream is good, but it isn't holy grail material for me. I would recommend it those with combination, oily, or sensitive skin since it helps control oil while moisturizing your skin. It's also good for those who live in warmer climates, rather than people who live in cold areas or are in winter right now since the air won't be as dry. However, I've read some reviews, and it's either a hit or a miss for them :<. Also, I don't feel as if there are any long term effects.

Where to buy? I purchased mine from The Face Shop in Fairview mall, while they were having their grand opening promotion ($15 off for a $35 purchase). Haul ★ The Face Shop & Others

Hello everyone!

At the beginning of October, The Face Shop opened a store at Fairview Mall (there's also one at Markville Mall) in place of what used to be Fruits & Passion, so now I don't have to travel all the way to Pacific Mall for it. Although Pacific Mall still has Holika Holika, Tony Moly, and Missha. Anyways, The Face Shop was having an opening promotion, so I couldn't help myself~

The stuff is more expensive than e-bay (y'know, import duties, taxes, etc.) but it's good for the convenience. There isn't a great price difference when it comes to the cheaper items (eyebrow pencils, face creams, etc.), but there is for the the products from their skin care lines ($10-15 difference from e-bay sellers, not so much with online stores). I bought a few things because of their opening promotion, which was something like $5 off $15, $10 off $25, $15 off $35, which is pretty awesome! Some of the stuff was out of stock due to the amount of business they've gotten, and they don't sell some of the things that are found online. But they do sell gift sets in cute boxes, which makes a great gift for a parent, relative, or friend :D

Also throwing in some of the stuff I got in the past few months or so, to my post is lengthier~

The Face Shop items: Mild Papaya Peeling (gel?), Chia Seed 0% Oil moisturizer/cream, Face It Radiance Dual Veil concealer in nb23, Mango Butter lip care cream, Chia Seed toner samples (the two small boxes on the left), Crystal Water Super Gel and something else under the Crystal Water Super Gel samples(I legit do not know what they are because it's all in Korean D:, but it's part of one of their skin care lines).

Other stuff: The Face Shop volcanic clay nose strips, The Face Shop Lovely Me:Ex magic pink powder mask, Mizon Snail Repair BB cream (SPF32, PA++), Holika Holika Face 2 Change CC cream (SPF32, PA++), Mizon Snail Recovery Gel (it came as a 2 for 1, so the other one is in the giveaway). All from f2plus1.

Tony Moly Egg Pore set: Black Out Oil Gel, Tightening Pack, Silky Smooth Balm. I purchased these from Jolse.

And on the more expensive end...

Chanel Vita Lumiere foundation. This is my current favourite foundation/face make-up 8D.

Yves Saint Laurent glossy stains in 105 (Coral Hold Up) and 14 (Fuchsia Dore). I really like the texture, feel, and lasting power of these stains. But the scent is off-putting because it smells like alcohol D:.

Review ★ Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner

Today, I will be reviewing the Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner! I don't have many skincare products that I rave about since I'm pretty particular about them, especially when it comes to products that advertise that they minimize pores but are not that effective throughout the day or even in the long run. But I have finally found a product that does what it claims to do effectively!

The Wonder Pore Freshner is a total solution for pore troubles. It is an astringent toner with antiseptic properties that removes oil, dirt, germs, and residues for clear, healthy skin.

It claims to do 7 of the following:
★ Deep cleanse pores
★ Control sebum
★ Keep the ideal pH balance (4.5 ± 1)
★ Tighten pores
★ Brighten skin tone
★ Prevent enlarging of pores
★ Prevent skin troubles

It is 6 free, so it doesn't include: parabens, mineral oil, artificial fragrance, artificial pigments, talc and animal ingredients.

It contains their anti pore-dex complex (Korean pasque flower, dandelion, chrysanthemum, and hinoki cypress extracts) Those ingredients are used to treat acne and inflammation, soothe the skin, and cleanse the skin more thoroughly than the general ingredients in soaps and cleansers. It also contains astringentlex (rose geranium, lotus flower, great burnet, gambier, and cinnamon extracts), which is supposed to suppress the production of excess sebum by tightening the pores. Those ingredients enhance firmness and elasticity of the skin.

As many of you may know, there's a full line of Wonder Pore products. There's a freshner/toner (also comes as a mist), foam wash, mask, etc. I bought this toner because I really wanted something that was lightweight and worked well (previously, I was using a Caudalie toner but it didn't really do anything). The product comes in 250ml and 500ml bottles, so you can opt for a smaller, more convenient size if you'd like! If you have the bigger bottle, you can pour it into a mist bottle and use it as such, instead of actually buying the mist.

It comes in a cute box that lists all the benefits and whatnot. Most of it is in Korean, so I didn't include the other information on the box (which basically is about the benefits/usage/etc.). Instead of the typical pump, it has a dispenser that is like the ones on the bottles used in nail salons, or the make-up remover/alcohol bottles at the Sephora make-up applicator stations. It's a lot easier to control how much product comes out unlike the kind of pump that most liquid foundations and toners have. I find that those kinds of pumps usually squirt out too much product onto the cotton pad, especially if the toner has the consistency of water :<.

I have only been using this toner for around 3 weeks now, and there's a visible difference in the pores on my face. After a few weeks, the pores on my nose were visibly smaller and more refined, so my skin looks and feels a lot smoother. I hope the larger pores will shrink with time too OTL. It doesn't feel drying, and it doesn't give me that 'tight' feeling either. There's a slight cooling sensation after putting it on my face ^^, which feels nice~  My face looks a little brighter after using it too! I feel like it does control sebum since my face doesn't get as oily throughout the day (but it's still unavoidable if it's boiling outside), and I don't have as many bumps around my nose/forehead now.

There isn't any sticky residue after it is absorbed... I don't know if it's just me, but some toners leave a sticky residue or film on my face that makes me feel really greasy afterwards >_<.

The one thing I kind of dislike about it is the scent. It smells like alcohol, although it's not a strong scent, it can be off-putting to some. It's less bothersome after multiple uses since you get used to the scent. But I think the results trump the mediocre scent anyways.

I think this would be a great product for those with combination or oily skin or those with pore troubles. Although I don't feel like it strips my skin of moisture, it is still highly recommended to apply moisturizer afterwards, especially if you have dry skin. But keep in mind that what may work for me, may not work for you, since skin tends to vary from person to person! Generally, other reviews for this product are very favourable though.

Where to buy? I bought it from for worldmarket201010 $20 CAD (link). That seller also sells 25ml sample bottles. You can find it in most online stores if they stock a large range of Etude House products ^^, or on ebay. The 250ml bottle is around $13-15.

Would I repurchase? Maybe. In my opinion, it's a great product for it's price, since it does a lot more than any other toner I've used so far. It's a little more expensive than drugstore toners, but it isn't as expensive as high end toners. But I haven't been using it for a long time yet, so I don't know if it'll continue to yield results after longer usage. But I would buy it again if it effective until I finish the bottle!

Review ★ Shu Uemura Fresh Pore Clarifying Cleansing Oil

Hello err'body!

I have brought myself to splurge on one of the Shu Uemura cleansing oils after reading a lot of reviews that rave about how awesome they are. They come in 150mL and 450mL bottles (~$30-45, $67-90, respectively). I've been using it for about 3-4 weeks now, and I haven't broken out yet.

You might be thinking that it is ridiculous to use oil as a cleanser, because people generally try to remove traces of excess oil. However, do not be alarmed! These cleansing oils will not make your face oily, or cause you to break out (I haven't read any reviews where people claimed that they broke out). I have combination skin (with some dry patches e ve) and my face didn't feel slimy or oily after washing it off. The cleanser is also very lightweight and thin.

I've been using Murad cleansing wipes, and an eye make-up remover to remove my make-up after night classes or going out with friends. Although people recommend using an actual cleanser to remove make-up, I find that the wipes do a much better job than some of the cleansers I've used. Admittedly, I am also really lazy 8D. Your vision will get cloudy if you get it in your eyes though, although that's better than the pain that comes with getting cleanser in them LOL.

I couldn't think of another way to show how well it works, but I hope this will suffice LOL. On the far left, I have concealer (Maybelline Age Rewind) and eyeliner (Dollywink liquid & pencil eyeliner) on the back of my hand. The middle picture is the product of rubbing some of the cleansing oil over the make-up. Lastly, the far right shows no trace of make-up or oily film, after washing the oil off with warm water.

This cleansing oil eliminates the use of the wipes & eye make-up remover. It removes all of my make-up (including waterproof mascara, BB creams, etc.) very well. I use toner afterwards, and there's never any make-up residue left on the cotton ball :D. A little goes a long way, and I've used it sparingly because it is on the expensive side.

Pros
+ Removes all traces of make-up
+ Does not leave any oily residue after washing it off
+ Pores are noticeably smaller
+ Skin feels soft
+ It is lightly scented

Cons
- Expensive. $36 CAD for 150ml/$72 CAD (I'm guestimating OTL) for 450ml is steep; but it is a high quality product.

Rating: ★★★★★

Where to purchase? I purchased mine from Sephora for $36 (before tax, but I used the VIB coupon on my purchase). You can also buy them from a department store counter, the Shu Uemura website, e-bay, amazon, etc.

Would I repurchase? Yes, somewhere in the long run when my wallet will not cry over it. There are also cheaper alternatives that are well reviewed on Sasa, and ones sold by e-bay sellers.

Haul ★ Korean cosmetics & Brandy Melville

WARNING: PICTURE INTENSIVE.

I keep forgetting to update, even though I have drafts posts = u=;;.

A few weeks ago, I ordered a bunch of Korean cosmetics from e-bay, and they have finally arrived! I find e-bay the cheapest method of obtaining Korean cosmetic/skincare products, although some people might deem it shadier than an actual website. I purchased the Mizon all-in-one snail repair cream from bestbuy77, and the rest of the items from f2plus1.

Both of those e-bay stores offer free shipping without tracking. They offer tracking for a small fee, as well as EMS. Like other sellers, they also include free samples with your order :3.

I will be posting reviews of some of the items over time, since I don't want to make this post overly picture intensive.

Etude House Sweet Recipe Cupcake All Over Colour (lip balm + blush) in PK002 Strawberry Chiffon Cake & OR202 Peach Sugar Cake.

They smell so good ; u;

Etude House Sweet Recipe Baby Choux Base SPF25/PA++ in #3 Peach Choux & #1 Mint Choux. The packaging is pretty legit since the container isn't light, and doesn't feel like cheap plastic.

The Peach one smells like peach, but the mint one kind of smells like sunscreen in my opinion o_o.

Etude House Juicy Cocktail Gradation Nails in #1 Screw Driver. The purple one is really pretty, but it was sold out :<.

It's Skin Babyface Blusher in #4 Sweet Peach & #3 Romantic Rose. Isn't the face so adorable? ; A;

It's Skin Macaron Lip Balm in #1 Strawberry. I'll probably go back for the apple one too.

The Face Shop Aura CC Cream SPF30, PA++.

It comes with a sponge applicator that I won't use. The CC cream comes out from a small hole (that is covered by the applicator), when you push the plastic button-looking thing.

The Face Shop Lovely ME:EX Design My Eyebrow in #1 Gray Brown.

It comes with a spoolie (is that how you spell it?) too.

Lioele L'Cret Magic Lip Stick SPF14 in #2 Elegant Purple, #3 Lush Green, #5 Fresh Orange.

Tony Moly Luminous Pure Aura CC Cream SPF30, PA++. Bought this one in case I don't like The Face Shop one.

Mizon All-in-One Snail Repair Cream. I've read tons of reviews on this product that praised it as if it was a godsend made of unicorn blood or something magical like that. So I decided to get over the snail part, and try it out e ue;;. I bought the bigger one because it's a better price than the smaller one.

The thing I love most about Japanese and Korean cosmetics is that their packaging is so adorable. Like seriously, I'm a total sucker for cute packaging.

Lastly, I bought some clothes from Brandy Melville (tank top, cardigan, dress).

That's how I coordinated the outfit. 

That's it for my haul :D. I'll probably buy more stuff from e-bay next month to spoil myself for my birthday LOL, since I never hold parties and whatnot.
