Review ★ Etude House Precious Mineral Magic Any Cushion in Peach

Hello, I have another review for you all!

I'll start off by saying that the product name is pretty long. I've never purchased any Etude House face makeup, so this will be my first time using one! The Any Cushion (referred to as such because the title is really long) is supposed to act as a base prior to applying the rest of your makeup. Cushion makeup has been really trendy as of late! From bases to BB/CC creams, to even blushes and eyeliners (Etude House's Lock & Summer line)~

Note that this isn't the Any Cushion BB cream, but a base makeup under the same line/name!

The Any Cushion comes in 3 variations: Magic Mint, Magic Peach, and Magic Pink. It's basically the cushion version of the Sweet Recipe Choux Bases which came in either a jar or a tube. Magic Mint is meant to cancel out redness, Magic Peach is for brightening up dull skin tones, and Magic Pink is meant for pale skin tones with red undertones.

I purchased the one in Magic Peach because I have yellow undertones, and plus, who doesn't want brighter, healthier looking skin? Continue under the cut for the rest of my review ^^!

Magic Cushion Pact makes skin transparent and bright with a lovely magic base colour that covers imperfections of any skin type.

As we know by now, I'm a big fan of Etude House's packaging. Everything from the boxes to the actual packaging is adorable.

That is the manufacture date, not the expiry date~ To remove the cushion, you push on the bottom to pop it out of the pact.

The pact itself has a conventional look, with the Any Cushion logo on it. The top half of the pact has a mute metallic finish, while the bottom is just pink plastic. The interior has a separator attached to it to hold the sponge. It comes with a single sponge applicator which is really soft and flexible. The great thing about these cushion pacts is that you can purchase refills, so you don't have to waste the packaging and repurchase a new one. It's a little more environmentally friendly to do so, than to recycle all your pacts and purchase new ones, especially if it's an HG product! Also, the refills are only a fraction of the price!

As for usage direction, I think it's better to pat on the product onto your face instead of swiping or dragging the sponge on your face. That way you aren't pulling on your skin! I think the dabbing motion is a more prominent technique in Korea, than it is here. Especially since brushes and beautyblenders are a lot more commonly used here~

The formula feels cooling and lightweight. It applies very smoothly, so it doesn't have a blotchy or streaky appearance. The consistency is rather thin, so it doesn't feel like you have anything on your face :D.

You can use it alone, or continue with your face makeup routine. It has no coverage since it is base makeup after all, but it should suffice for those who already have great skin and just need a little something to brighten up their complexion. It evens out my skin tone slightly, so the redness around my cheeks and nose isn't as obvious. I find that it minimizes the appearance of pores ever so slightly too. The texture of my skin looks smoother afterwards LOL. Alone, it has a dewy finish that gives a subtle glow which doesn't give off a greasy effect. This enhances the appearance of your BB/CC cream; however, you can always use a finishing powder if the dewy look is not your cup of tea. The thing I like about it is that it brightens up my complexion, as well as the overall appearance on my makeup!

The pigments add a 'brightening' effect to the skin. Initially, it gives off a white cast, but it's not so much once it settles in. However, it would be obvious under flash photography (if used alone).  If it leaves a white cast, that can be remedied by using a foundation/BB cream/CC cream that matches your skin. Unlike the Sweet Recipe Choux Bases which smell like food or sweets, the Any Cushion has a light floral scent. It smells rather pleasant, and I don't find it irritating to the skin.

I think it evens out my skin tone fairly well, but I don't believe that it makes my makeup last any longer than it usually does. But then again, it is summer and it gets humid on some days. The good thing about it is that it has SPF in it, so that you can protect your skin from sun damage, especially if your foundation/BB/CC cream doesn't have SPF in it. My makeup lasts for around 5 hours with finishing powder, and 3-4 hours without it.

Ironically, it will accentuate flakiness, even though it feels moisturizing. I think it only does so because of the pigmentation in it. I don't have that problem with other bases and primers that apply on transparent, whereas I do have this problem with bases and primers that have 'special' aspects to them, such as the green to cancel out redness. I would recommend this for those with normal/combination to oily skin, rather than those with dry skin who are prone to dry patches/flakiness. However, it should be fine as long as you apply a moisturizer beforehand! I don't have particularly strong feelings towards to price, however it can be pricey depending on where you get it from. I think it's alright priced at $16, but I don't think it's worth $22. It's a decent product, and it's definitely cheaper than some of the higher end base makeup/primers. However, it's not really HG product material, and I don't feel like it's something to purchase if you already have a base that works for you, or if you would rather splurge a little more on something that works for you and your needs.

Some retailers also have mini sets/samples, so you can try it out to see if you like it, before purchasing the actual product!

I purchased this from rubyruby76 ($21.99USD). You can purchase the refill for around $11USD.

You can also purchase this from Beautynetkorea/f2plus1 ($21.99USD, $19.80USD on sale), Jolse/Iamlove-shop ($15.98USD), Rinishop ($15.49USD). It's a fairly popular product, so your preferred online retailer should have it in stock!
